Kitchens in Harlow

Harlow was one of the first post-war new towns, planned by Sir Frederick Gibberd around neighbourhoods, green wedges and a lot of public sculpture. More than seventy years on, its houses range from 1950s terraces to brand new homes in Newhall, and the brief for kitchens, Harlow wide, changes from street to street.

You deal with one designer, one project manager and one price.

Kitchens Harlow homes need: from Old Harlow to Newhall

Original new town neighbourhoods1950s and 1960s terraces and flatsMore storage and better light in a compact room
Old HarlowOlder cottages and period houses around the High StreetFurniture that sits well with uneven walls and character
Church LangleyDetached and semi-detached homes from the 1990s onwardsA kitchen-diner that works for a growing family
NewhallContemporary architect-designed homesA calm, minimal kitchen in an open-plan room

Gibberd's terraces were built for efficiency, so the kitchens are usually small and the dining area is often a separate space. In Old Harlow, older properties bring sloping floors and walls that are rarely straight, which is where cabinets scribed to the room by time-served fitters earn their keep. Church Langley's family houses tend to suit a larger island or peninsula. Newhall's contemporary homes are the kind of new builds and minimal interiors our Modern and Handleless styles suit. With the M11 a few minutes away, many households here commute, and a kitchen that is easy to keep tidy matters.

Family kitchen-diners also need the right equipment in the right place. We supply and fit Neff, Siemens, Bosch, Miele and Fisher & Paykel appliances, and we will happily install something you have already chosen. Appliances we supply are installed and commissioned, with warranties registered on your behalf. Lighting is planned in layers on separate circuits, so the task lights over the worktop, the ambient lighting for the dining end and any feature lighting in cabinets or plinths can be used independently, all wired and certified by our own electricians.

Handleless is our most requested style of the last two years. Doors open with an integrated rail or a gentle push, so the eye reads one continuous surface, and the finishes run from matt lacquer and laminate to real wood veneer and ceramic. It suits contemporary extensions, kitchen-diners and minimal interiors.

Modern kitchens follow similar lines with slab doors, minimal gaps and carefully planned lighting, in matt lacquer, super-matt laminate, textured woodgrain or glass. Modern kitchens depend on precision, so we template worktops after the cabinets are fitted and set every gap by hand. If your home has more character, our Shaker range uses a framed door painted in the colour you choose, our Traditional range uses in-frame cabinetry in hand-painted solid timber, natural oak or walnut, and our Bespoke range handles awkward rooms and unusual briefs.

Design

Kitchens designed and fitted without the chasing

Dark kitchen with oak breakfast bar and pendant lighting

Most kitchen companies supply and fit cabinets, then leave you to find the rest. We manage every trade your project needs, in the right order.

It begins with a call back within one working day and a visit from your designer, who measures the room and checks services and structure. The design comes next, presented in 3D with plans, elevations and photorealistic visuals, and revisions are part of the process. Then you receive one fixed, itemized quotation covering cabinetry, worktops, appliances and every trade.

On site, the old kitchen is stripped out and the waste disposed of under licence. Electrics are upgraded by NAPIT Registered Electricians, plumbing and gas are moved to suit the design, walls are skimmed, and the new floor goes down before the cabinets. Worktops are laser templated, appliances commissioned and the room decorated. Typical installations take two to four weeks, and the handover includes our ten-year installation guarantee in writing.
