How much does a new kitchen with building work cost?

Complete projects with Essex Home, including all building work, typically start from £18,000, and range up to £50,000 and above depending on the room and the specification.

How much should I pay a kitchen fitter?

Complete kitchen projects with Essex Home typically range from £18,000 to £50,000 and above.

Our quotation covers the complete project, with every element, including the trades, itemized so you can see exactly what is included before you commit to anything.

Are you the cheapest kitchen company?

Not us, and we say so openly. We don't expect to be the cheapest kitchen company in Essex; our focus is good design, quality products and professional installation. We don't do discounts that expire at midnight.

How much does a bespoke kitchen cost?

Complete kitchen projects with Essex Home typically range from £18,000 to £50,000 and above. Bespoke work sits wherever your room, cabinetry, worktops, appliances and building work take it, and every element is itemized.

Timescales

Timescales and the process

How long does it take to fit a kitchen?

Typical installations take two to four weeks. You receive a written schedule before we start, daily updates during the work, and a site left tidy every evening.

How long does it take to fit a kitchen with an island?

Typical installations take two to four weeks. Planning the services under the floor first means the island can be connected without cutting channels into a finished floor.

How do I know the project will run to plan?

The one you can hold to account. With us you get a fixed quotation that shows everything, a written programme with daily updates, and a ten-year guarantee that covers the whole project, including the trades.

Trades

Trades and building work

Will I have to deal with several trades?

No. Every trade is priced in your quotation and scheduled by your project manager, and our installation guarantee covers the whole project, including the trades.

Do kitchen fitters do the plumbing and building work?

Yes, as part of the same contract. Removing walls, forming openings and installing steels, with engineer calculations and building control sign-off, is carried out by Essex Home Builders, and water, waste and gas are moved by our own plumbers.

Do kitchen fitters do the electrics?

Yes, as part of the same contract. New circuits, sockets, lighting, appliance connections and consumer unit upgrades are carried out by NAPIT Registered Electricians.

Which company is best for kitchen fitting?

Choose one that employs the trades rather than handing you a list. Ours include builders, plumbers, plasterers, decorators, a flooring team, a worktop team and time-served kitchen fitters, with electrics by NAPIT Registered Electricians, all managed by one project manager.

Styles

Kitchen styles

What is a Shaker kitchen?

It is a framed door with a recessed centre panel, painted in the colour you choose. We describe it as timeless without being old-fashioned, and easy to live with for twenty years.

What is an in-frame kitchen?

It is the style behind our Traditional range: in-frame cabinetry with cock beading, mantels and dressers, built the way kitchens were before flat-pack. We describe it as substantial, quiet and made to be handed on.

Is an in-frame kitchen better than Shaker?

Neither is better; they suit different houses. Shaker suits period homes, 1930s semis and family kitchens. Traditional in-frame suits detached family homes, farmhouses and listed properties. Your designer can talk you through both, and your design is presented in 3D.

Can you design a kitchen for a period home?

One that designs every kitchen from scratch for the room it goes in. Our cabinets are fitted, levelled and scribed to the room by our own time-served fitters, and bespoke pieces are made to the millimetre by our own workshop.
